Thanks to all who came out to our general meeting last weekend! We had a huge turnout and got to meet a bunch of new members. We were (re-)introduced to the incoming steering committee; heard a financial report from our new treasurer, Adam Goldman; were given a brief introduction to the Labor Working Group by Paul Prescod; and heard report backs on the DSA National Convention from our delegates. It was an incredibly productive meeting and several resolutions passed:
A resolution to form an electoral committee to sharpen our electoral engagement
It's cardigan season again and our next General Meeting will be this Sunday September 17th at 1pm at First Unitarian Church of Philadelphia! It seems like it's been forever and a year since our local convention, and DSA hosted an amazing National Convention in August. Want to hear about it?
We're having picnic tomorrow (Sun. 9/3) at FDR Park, Site 7, from 10 AM to 5 PM! We will have grilled hot dogs, veggie burgers for our vegetarians, and water. All other food and drinks will be potluck, so please bring a side dish, a snack, or drinks!
First of all - thank you to all that came out this weekend in support of our comrades in Charlottesville. It's been a tough few days, but seeing folks from our chapter and being able to stand together in solidarity with socialists in Philadelphia and across the country was truly inspiring. Thanks in particular to Barry, Theresa, and Chris for pulling together and getting the word out about the vigils on Saturday and Sunday night 🌹🌹
We have two events coming up - the next instalment of the Socialist Night School tomorrow and the Medicare for All organizing training.
In just under two weeks, our conventioneers will set off for the largest DSA National Convention in recent memory! (Largest in history? Probably!) So this week we’re here to talk a little about Single Payer and how your delegates will be representing our Chapter and what that means for you. (We’re also here to ask for money, but go with it.)
